Sadguru Shri Nityanand Swami
Shri Nityanand Swami is know as Ved Vyas of Swaminarayan Sampraday, His art of oratory could shut up the opponents very effectively, Number of times He successfully replied squarely all the challenges which have come against Swaminarayan Sampraday and proved that Swaminarayan Sampraday is Vaidik.
Swamiji was born to his mother Virjadevi in the house of the Brahmin Vishnu Sharma at village Dantia of Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh near Lucknow on Chaitra Sud 9, Samvat 1849. his childhood name was Dinmani Sharma. After his Yagnopavit (holy-threading) ceremony, He went to Kashi for in depth study of Shastra.
After completion of his study he started pilgrimage to places like Badrinarayan etc, On the way to Dwarika near Visnagar, He listen about Lord Swaminarayan and finally he met Shri Hari at Fareni. While an assembly at Unjha Shri Hari was addressing and Dinmani Sharma enlightened, love and affection of the earlier births arose in him and after taking Diksha he was named as ‘Nityanand Swami’.
Shri Hari sent him to Purushottam Bhatt of Nandol for specialized study of the scriptures and blessed him that no other learned person would win over him on this earth and he would ever remain victorious in the field of knowledge. He wrote such a significant books like Shree Hari Digvijay, Commentary on Shandilya Sutra and Satsangijivan Tika,
After having blessings from Shri Hari, Nityanand Swami set out for intellectual victory of the world and made experts and erudite persons of Srinagar, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Gondal, Khambhat, Rajkot, Botad etc. Shri Nityanand Swami spread the victorious glory of Swaminarayan Sampraday to the world.
Credit of developing a small plant of Satsang into a shady tree in the place like Umreth, where influence of Advait Vedantists was tremendous, goes to Nityanand Swami. By constantly studying the scriptures and having practical experience of the world by roaming in his incessant pilgrimage, Nityanand Swami has made Swaminarayan Sampradaya very well known.
Till last breath of his life, he was worried about the Sampraday. He recommended Satsang to Acharya Shri Raghuvirji Maharaj and went to Akshardham in the meditation pose Siddhasana on Magsar Sud 11 Samvat 1908. His funeral ceremony was performed at Gyan baug.
